Description of class: Working with your hands to gain a practical understanding of the production process will help you to further appreciate every-day artefacts whilst you gain knowledge, skill and technique in working with clay.

For those with more experience the course offers project guidance and support from the course tutor as well as access to and use of tools and resources, provision of clay* and kiln firing.

LOCATION: The Pottery Studio, The Mansion, Fore Street, Totnes

Description of class: This class is designed to build on the core skills of hand-building and throwing. You will work on projects of your own choosing and receive guidance from the class tutor.

For those with more experience the course offers project guidance and support from the course tutor as well as access to and use of tools and resources, provision of clay* and kiln firing.

It is recommended that the focus is on refining practice on the wheel, exploring other hand-building techniques such as sculpture and the use of moulds. Decorative techniques such as sgraffito, slip-decorating, decals and exploring the science of glazes are also considered.

* Course costs includes clay, glaze and firing of up to 4kg of finished glazed and fired work. There is a charge of £3 per additional kg.
